Not to worry–Lives of Gethra is not a story with a beginning, middle and end. Stories weave betwixt one another, beginning and ending randomly, and, sometimes, without any warning.
The simplest way to get started is to choose a character to read! Check here for a character guide. The navigation menus for each character’s chapters are always visible on the site, so you can easily jump to any point in the story!
Alternatively:
Just start reading a recent post that interests you! While many story arcs rise and fall throughout each character’s adventures, you do not need to go back and read everything to join the experience! Like realistic people, the characters in Lives of Gethra don’t have any clear “beginning.”.
What else do you need to know?
Each character in the story is being controlled by a “player.” Read some of the other pages on this website to learn more, and also how to get involved with the “game” aspect of this series. Circumstances beyond the characters are controlled by random chance, such as dice. As the writer, I am only setting up probabilities based on my understanding of the world I have created–I am not creating a story. I am simply a chronicler.

What’s the purpose for the stand alone chapters?
Gethra is a story of a world, not a particular plot arc, so I want to have many ways of showing what life is like at different times or places in Gethra.
Some of the standalone chapters show details connected to one of the main characters and usually things they are not aware of (some readers may prefer only knowing what their favourite character knows, while others may want to see the secrets that played some role unbeknownst to the character).
On the other hand, many of the standalone chapters will show entirely different people that are living in Gethra, to give you an idea of what else may be happening in the world.
Standalone chapters are kind of just fun extra content–read or ignore, at your own preference 🙂
Thanks. Is there a map of Gethra somewhere?
Yup! Here’s the map: http://www.lives-of-gethra.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Gethra-World-Map-2017-February.jpg
I’ve also added a link to the map at the bottom of the Welcome message in the navigation bar, as it only sometimes loads the map in the featured image location.
